On a crisp Christmas Eve, in #Stowe , #Vermont , a small town  nestled between rolling hills, children eagerly awaited the arrival of Christmas Day. The air was filled with the sweet scent of pine from freshly decorated trees, and the homes twinkled with lights that danced like stars against the dark sky. Snow gently fell, covering the ground in a soft, sparkling blanket, as families gathered to celebrate the most cherished time of the year.

In one particular  home, a duplex of made of red bricks and a cedar wood finish ,  a family sat by the fireplace, their faces lit with joy as they sipped hot cocoa and sang Christmas carols. The children, wide-eyed with excitement, could hardly contain their anticipation for the morning. But as the clock ticked closer to midnight, little Emma, lilt , porcelain skin  bright blue eyes wearing a yellow jumper and yellow joggers stood alongside   , King , caramel cream skin , bright hazel eyes wearing a red jumper, and sky blue velvet  slippers  and  a dessert brown joggers,  the youngest of the children, sat quietly by the window, looking out at the peaceful snowfall ,both of them were beaming with twinkles of joy radiating through their  smile.

"Why are you so quiet, Emma?" asked her older brother, King.

Emma turned and smiled softly. "I was just thinking about Christmas and what it really means. We talk about presents and decorations, but I wonder what Jesus would want us to remember on His birthday."

Her parents paused, hearing their little one’s thoughtful words. They exchanged a knowing glance before her mother sat down beside her.

"Well, Emma," her mother said gently, "Christmas is more than the presents and the trees. It’s about celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ, who came into the world to share His love with all of us. The gifts we give each other are just a way to show love, the same love that Christ showed when He gave us the greatest gift of all—His love and sacrifice."

Emma's eyes sparkled as she looked up at her mother. "So, Christmas is about love?"

"Exactly," her mother replied, hugging her tightly. "The love of Christ, and the love we share with one another. It's about kindness, generosity, and helping those in need."

That  night as sodium skies painted the horizon and stars in tiny dot shone brightly,  the family gathered to celebrate, Emma couldn't stop thinking about what her mother had said. She realized that while gifts were nice, the true spirit of Christmas was about showing love and kindness to those around her, just as Jesus did.

The next morning, after opening her presents, Emma decided to do something special. She bundled up in her warm coat and, with her mother’s help, baked cookies and packed them in a basket. She then went door-to-door, handing out the sweet treats to her neighbours, especially those who lived alone or didn’t have much family nearby.

When Emma returned home, her heart was full. She had shared the love of Christmas with others, just as Jesus had shared His love with the world.

Later that evening, as the family gathered once again by the fireplace, King turned to Emma with a smile. "I think you really understood what Christmas is about this year."

Emma beamed, feeling a deep sense of joy and peace. "It’s not about what we get, but about what we give and the love we share."

And as the soft glow of the fire flickered in the room, they all felt the warmth of Christmas—the love of Christ, shining in their hearts, guiding them to give and to love, not just on Christmas Day, but every day.

The greatest gift, Emma realized, was not found under the tree, but in the love shared with others.
